Always up to date so as not to lose the tone. Training plays a key role in companies today, and Barcelona-based Actua Solutions wants to be a benchmark in its deployment. The consulting firm provides online training solutions (e-learning) for companies. To this end, it allies with the major companies in the sector, distributes licenses and “adapts the product to each company” with its own developments, explains Mario Planas, founder and director of the firm. He highlights software such as Articulate, Totara or Zoom, which are alternatives to more traditional names in the area such as Moodle. “Everything is geared toward increasing the capacity of professionals. Their training is based on what you give them,” he says. “We train the training managers,” he specifies. Those who then put together the courses attended by employees or customers. Along the way, we look for more efficient solutions that integrate gamification and creativity. So that it doesn’t end up as an indigestible presentation for employees. “There is a lot of need for change in the sector, a lot of movement. Companies are not happy with the most popular platforms, which do not meet their needs,” he warns.

Large companies concentrate the portfolio, but startups are quicker to apply innovations

From the beginning, we wanted to make a difference. “We were born in 2004 and focused on learning technology, which at that time was a desert. Now we want to lead innovative solutions using artificial intelligence. In the coming years this is what the market is going to demand, it’s a new wave,” says Planas. Current clients are renewing products with AI at a significant rate, he shares. “It makes it possible to prepare content for online courses supported by AI. Voice, create characters, set up exercises…”. Actua Solutions is an exclusive partner in the
distribution of some of these solutions while training in their use. AI will be one of the drivers to boost their numbers, along with greater involvement of companies in distance learning after the pandemic pull, such as in cybersecurity. Organizations are looking for training in new skills and worker retraining to “be more innovative”. Thus, it expects a turnover of around five million euros this year, which represents a growth of 25%. By 2025, the forecast is to add another 1.5 million (+30%). The company has 35 employees. Planas is committed to focusing its attention on large firms. The bulk of its portfolio has between 2,000 and 5,000 workers. Its clients include Glovo, Wallbox, Travelperk, Planeta, Isdin and La Tagliatella. There are also many startups, “they are quicker to implement innovation”. International business is a minor part, about 15%, captured through global companies with which it works here.
